b. Following is one example:

Tying a knot to join the broken lace is the best solution. It saves time and fixes the problem. (3 marks)

2. Accept either answer. Labels should be glued on the shelf diagram.

3. Heather made a profit of $10. Students should adequately show or explain how they got their answer.

For example, Heather could start out with $35.

She buys the bike for $25. This leaves her with $10:

$35 - $25 = $10

Heather sells the bike for $30. This gives her $40:

$10 + $30 = $40

She buys the bike for $35. This leaves her with $5:

$40 - $35 = $5

Heather sells the bike for $40. This gives her $45:

$5 - $40 = $45

Heather finds the difference between what she has now and what she started with:

$45 - $35 = $10

Heather makes $10.
